Kano; A State Of Emergency

This might be the shortest blog I write, and definitely one of the saddest for me in my short life.
From the past months to date, the world has struggled to survive and live with the deadly Coronavirus and still struggling. Waking up daily to the present situation of the world and our nation is heartbreaking, and even more to read daily about the situation in Kano state.

There are a whole lot of things happening in the world right now and the paramount thing at this stage should be safety. To actualize the kind of safety required to survive this period, there are urgent processes that we should employ.

Actions not Hopes
There is a great need for every human to consciously acknowledge humanity and value LIFE. A little push on the value for life would help us as individuals and as citizens to feel the effects these deaths are making and seek urgent help. Every life is a life and should be treated with love and value. The part of losing lives in numbers with so many humans almost not interested is totally unacceptable.

Inadequate data has always been one of our biggest statistical problems in this nation and with little or no efforts being made, the data gap stays and we will keep fighting with very little information. Following opinions from citizens and inhabitants of the state, Kano as a state has lost an estimated 1,000 human lives this period to unverified causes. Reading a tweet from Zainab Mahmoud @iNabmahmoud 100 death cases were recorded in Kano in 48hours, now imagine all the numerous unreported cases.

There have also been reports of yellow vaccines being sold by unknown persons to the inhabitants of Kano to curtail the deaths, till this minute, very little about this vaccine and the effects it must have had on the citizens is known. This is totally heartbreaking and requires URGENT attention.

People can not avoid what they don't know, therefore there is an URGENT need for thorough and intense sensitization, without physical contact. This is the time to use the digital platforms that are available for use in this generation. This is an emergency!!! And should be treated as one. People should be told the truth of what they are facing, and how to put a stop to it, in a language they are most conversant with.

The government should step up and take responsibility for her citizens and their safety, or be ready to govern structures and not people. Just as most nations and cities, enforce a total and compulsory lockdown across the state. This enforcement should be done without an exemption on religious gatherings. Even Allah would want His followers safe and sound at this trying time and always.

The situation right now is not one to ignore individual decisions to be careless as it practically affects everyone and is highly contagious. Any and everyone who goes against the lockdown and safety measures should be treated as Enemy of the state. It is time to be more responsible for ourselves and others, as our safety is intertwined.

It is a beautiful thing to pray and send beautiful thoughts, but let us stay conscious of the need to do our parts and to pressurize the government to take responsibility.

Maybe it's a bitter truth? The government needs to be transparent in a factual ways. Taking lives serious can change our social!
