Telling my story as an activist might result to writing an
autobiography, because as far as I can remember I have always had this
passion to make things right. Sometimes it doesn’t necessarily have to
do with me directly but with people around me and I just want to get
on the way and fix things for them. It was terrible because most times
when you try to fix things for people, they don’t get
appreciative and sometimes when you get on the line to fix things and these people get out of the line and turn against you,
it becomes discouraging and you get tired and ask yourself "what’s the
need of being an activist after all?"
Those were the kind of questions that ran through my head whenever I
wanted to make things right. But The whole story changed when I came in
contact with ActionAid and Activista. My old story changed. I got to
meet people who did this for life. People who turned their passions
into their duty. I started feeling a sense of responsibility,
after meeting and being in the midst of these wonderful people. I gave
myself reasons why being an activist is just the right thing, I saw clear reasons to stand up against Gender Based Violence (GDV), I gave
myself reasons why I won’t let people pay extraordinary taxes, I gave
myself reasons why I wouldn’t allow someone get intimidated, I gave
myself reasons why it was not supposed to be so that anyone in this
country be called poor, I gave myself reasons why the fight is worth
getting into.
