FARA SEE by Joseph Augustine

There was a man called Fara who gave birth to a child  See.
Fara See saw too much of himself that he saw little in others.
He was clothed with babariga or agbada the westerners would call it,
It was made from pride and sewed in ignorance.
Fara See would usually pass by suffering people and gloat their poverty,
treating them with scorn because Fara See was to blind to see,
that the poor you do not feed today
will become the thief preying in your backyard tomorrow.
Fara See was yet again too blind to see
that the child you do not train today,
would become the leader who would take power
and never want to give it back to the people.
Fara See was drowned in fantasies,
pride and ignorance made him neglect training the girl child,
believing they are weaker vessels.
Little did Fara See know that when you educate a girl you educate a nation,
and when you don’t educate a girl
she may pollute the nation with blunted tools from her womb,
tools that will dismantle a nation,
corrupting it from inside out like a virus.
Today Fara See seat in amazement
of how the seeds planted have become giant trees,
with thorns and not fit for a decent society.
Education cannot be overemphasized
Education for all is true freedom for a nation
Everyone child deserves a chance to get quality education.
